Trenched

Maroon and blush

It seems as though my prayers were answered this weekend, the weather was at Antarctica for the first time in weeks. I was able to get out and about. Went to the gilt City warehouse sale and grabbed a fabulous brunch with some new friends. Can I tell you how much I'm ready for spring.
Because of the milder temps this weekend, I gave a nod to my old friend spring by rocking this blush and maroon tone outfit. I stock with the color pallet with my vintage fur and new Brian Atwood heels. I felt extra feminine and flirty in this outfit.
Can I say again how much I am looking forward to warm weather on a regular basis?? Well only a few more weeks (le sigh)

Stripes and leopard print

Happy Martin Luther King Day everyone. I hope you had a great weekend!!! I spent my weekend in the New York to celebrate on of my good friend's bday. It was a very fun girls weekend and it's always great to be in the city. I fall in love more and more every time I'm there and it makes my upcoming move this summer that much more exciting.
I wore this outfit on saturday as my friends and I walked the streets of downtown Brooklyn. The weather wasn't super cold but the wind nearly frost bit my ears so I wore my scarf over my head to protect them. What do you think of my little head wrap situation?

Orange Print

Now that it's getting closer and closer to the end of the year, I find myself gravitating more and more toward fabulous dresses I can don for the holidays. This amazing printed maxi number was purchased at the Gilt City warehouse sale in DC. It was my first time going to the sale, which happens twice a year, but it definitely won't be my last. My advice, if you do get to go to Gilt City warehouse sale in you city, that you try to get one of the earliest slots. I got there in the early afternoon and the fine pickings were all but gone. Though slim pickings, I was able to snatch up this dress and two other fabulous pieces.
I have some great things coming up on the blog this week, including a giveaway and video, so I do hope to see you back here.

Gone with the wind

I can't believe it's November, the beginning of the holiday season and almost the end of the year. I've had a crazy year but am looking forward to ending the year on a very positive note and continuing that on into the new year.
Yesterday after a great church service, I took my beloved pup, Melody, to the lake for a walk. She is just a big ball of energy and always ready to play.
I'm fast realizing that I wont be able to not wear a coat any more. I wore this outfit first, without the jacket and then became super cold and had to put it on. This skirt from H&M is just too fabulous for words. I love how sophisticated and polished it looks. It kind of reminds me of Barbara O'neill from gone with the wind, hence the name of the post.

Man repeller

Last week the Man repeller, aka Leandra Medine , came to DC to do a book signing for her new book, Man repeller: Seeking love, finding overalls . When I first heard about the event I knew I would be in attendance but I wasn't quite sure what  to wear. I thought my usually ultra feminine style, wouldn't be appropriate for a Man repeller party so I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new, Boyfriend Jeans. Yes, this is my first and only pair of boyfriend jeans and I am ashamed that I waited so long to try them. They are super duper comfy and I still feel pretty feminine in them. (Side note: I actually DIY them to make them distressed. I'm getting really DIY obsessed all of a sudden lol)
I paired the jeans with my go to fall booties, crop top, embellished blazer and clutch.
Funny story, at the book signing I met a girl would had a clutch almost identical to mine but hers was vintage from the 70s.   Crazy right?!
Anyway I hope you all have a fab friday and even fabber (yes, I made that word up) weekend!!

Mixed Monochrome

Happy Monday all!! I am in the process of moving but wanted to do a quick post of an outfit I wore last week. I know that there are thousands of ways to rock the black and white "Trend" but I love how it looks when different prints are paired. I am no stranger to the mixing my prints (see here, here and here) but there is just something so chic and clean when those prints are black and white. Expect to see this color combo on me a lot this fall.
Alright so I have so much unpacking to do so I am going to sign off now. Hope you all have a wonderful week and don't forget to check out my instagram @according2trish for even more great content.

NYFW Day 3

Here's a look at what I wore on the third day of New York fashion week. This outfit is one of my favorites because the skirt was a DIY project. Yes I made that skirt! It took me two long partial days but I made it and I think it came out beautifully.
I was so excited to find a vintage bustier in my size (I guess woman didn't have big boobs back then). I have been looking for a while and finally grab this one off of ebay.
I am still in Puerto Rico enjoying the beautiful sunshine but will be flying back home tonight, to what I'm told is "Fall-like" weather. Well I'm headed to the beach for the last time, I hope you all have a wonderful Monday and a fantastic rest of the week.

NYFW Day 2

Hello all, I hope you've enjoyed your weekend. As I type this I am currently in New York for fashion week. Fashion week is one of my favorite times of the year and this trip has been a blast. I have had some truly great experiences. I attended a few shows (which I will be giving you a sneak peek of soon) and have had my fill of fashion lounges and events. I am truly appreciative of the experiences I get to have because of my blog. I can't wait to show you all of the great photos that I took. Until then, here are the pictures I took of my first look which was taken on the second day of Fashion week.

Mirrored Print

Mirrored prints were a huge trend this year and I decided to give it a try with this fabulous Jcpenny skirt. I wore this outfit to Cocktails with Claire, an event where the blogger behind Fashion Bomb Daily came to DC (and a few other city) to have a party with some of her readers. She is such a beautiful and gracious woman and it was a pleasure to meet her. Well I've got to go, these houses won't sell them selves. Happy monday to all!!!!

Train tracks

Hello Beautiful people. Happy Monday. Here's a very colorful outfit that I put together. With so much print going in the dress, I decided to keep everything else pretty simple.

Multicolored Dress

Thank God for the warm weather. I am certainly a summer baby (my birthday's coming up btw) and I am loving this warm weather. Light weight dresses like this will be my summer staple.
It's great when you find pieces on the off season, forget that you have them and when looking for something to wear, rediscover them in the back of your closet. This is exactly what happened with this dress. I bought is last fall at goodwill thinking it would be a great piece for the summer, then yesterday while digging through my closet I found it and was so proud of myself for that purchase. I love the bright colors and shapes on this dress. It reminds me of the seventies. I will forever think that the wrap dress is the ultimate feminine wear. It just hits a women's curves in all the right places.
Any way, I hope you all have a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by.

Vintage Peplum

Hey everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful mother's day weekend. Happy belated mother's day to  all of the mothers out there. I decided to take my awesome mom to brunch and we had such a great time. I will be posting a restaurant review for that so stay tuned.
So this is what I wore to brunch. This top is so vintage and so sexy and I love it! From the peplum to the low v neck, this top has all the elements to make any girl feel womanly. I paired it with a dark pair of jeans, some awesome cat eye shades and my fab new cut out sandals. All in all, this made for a very nice ensemble, if I say so myself. Have a wonderful week !!!

Stripes and Flowers

The weather has finally broken and I am very excited to be able to bare legs again. With it being spring, I find it only right to wear some type of floral. The earrings are one of my new obsessions. Can you believe they were only $2. Such a super great deal.

Twelve Sixteen

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent the weekend with the family because I wouldn't be able to do so for christmas because of my European trip. I also did some christmas shopping and went to my companies holiday party. This is what I wore for that occasion. It was a lunch so I didn't want to be too formal but it was still a holiday party so I wanted to be slightly fancy.

Cheetah Print and Blue Silk

This is an outfit I wore to the Worn magazine launch party about a week ago. I want to make sure that I was going to stay warm, as the party was along side a roof top pool and the weather is getting fairly cool at night. Though the temperature is dropping I refuse to wear tights just yet. Love this peplum jacket, I can dress it up, like so, or dress it down with a nice pair of jeans.

Like a boy

Menswear inspired looks are so big this fall, as they have been in the past season. Being of a curvier body type, I was very hesitant to try this trend because I thought I would look too feminine. Well for fashion week I decided to "grow a pair" and try this trend out. The way that I made it work for me is that instead of trying be too masculine, I decided to just take hints of masculinity and incorporate that into my look. This jumper was the perfect piece to help me achieve my goal. Because it was strapless, I kept my very feminine charm but the wide legs and structure gave me the right amount of masculine flare.
