Red ruffles (&Giveaway!!!)

This is my last outfit post from NYFW :( . Sad I know. I did wear a few other outfits but didn't get good enough pictures to post them so I'll have to do so at a later date.

I am so in love with this top. First off, I found it Nordstrom rack, where it was on sale for $9.75 but was originally $139. Love great deals like that! The top just exudes a certain opulence. The scarlet color is so on trend for fall and pairing it with the leather skirt was perfect.

Like a boy

Menswear inspired looks are so big this fall, as they have been in the past season. Being of a curvier body type, I was very hesitant to try this trend because I thought I would look too feminine. Well for fashion week I decided to "grow a pair" and try this trend out. The way that I made it work for me is that instead of trying be too masculine, I decided to just take hints of masculinity and incorporate that into my look. This jumper was the perfect piece to help me achieve my goal. Because it was strapless, I kept my very feminine charm but the wide legs and structure gave me the right amount of masculine flare.

Print Mixing

Is anyone else as excited for fall as I am? I love the summer for all of the fun and warm weather but I really love wearing clothes, so fall gives me the opportunity to do that. I also love all of the wonderful rich colors that fall brings into your wardrobe. The golds and burgundy are my favorites. In this outfit you an can tell that those two colors are definitely influenced the color palette.

This outfit was worn on a cool New York night during fashion week. I must give credit were credit is due, though it was I who picked out these piece, it was the wonderful Krystin who had the idea to put them together. She has such a great eye.

Believe it or not but this outfit was about $10 excluding the shoes. You can find such amazing pieces at the thrift store.

Cutouts and Prints

The thing about fashion week that know one tells you, is that it brings out your fierceness like no other. Maybe its all of the models or the lack of food but something switches in your brain and you just become an extreme amplified and fiercer version of yourself. I love this feeling and it really has encouraged me to step out of my fashion comfort zone.

El Parador Cafe NYC

Though I was on a tight schedule of shows and events and fashion stuff, I was able to find some time to  check out a pretty good Restaurant. El Parador cafe is a quaint restaurant located in the Murray Hill neighborhood of New York City. It's noted as one of the first Mexican restaurant in New York City and for having the best Margaritas. I didn't get a chance to taste the margaritas but what I did have were the lobster enchiladas and they were delicious. The pureed pumpkin seed and lentil sauce around the enchiladas was a perfect compliment.
My dining partner in crime Krystin of Be Loud, Be You, got the fish taco which she said was also pretty good.
As good as our main courses were, I have to note that one of the best part of the meal were the chips and salsa (more so the chips) that they served before the meal. The chips were some of the best tortilla chips I have ever had. You can tell that they were homemade.
Beside the great food, the atmosphere and service were pretty good too. The restaurant is really small so it was kind of packed but I think it added to the charm of the place.
Here are some picture from the evening.
The best tortilla chips! The salsa could have been spicier though.

Nordstrom Rack in Tysons Corner

Hello beautiful people. I know I said I had some more Fashion week stuff to share with you, and I do, but just I wanted to do a quick post on an event I was so graciously asked to attend yesterday. This event was a sneak peek of the new Nordstrom Rack store that will be opening this Thursday in Tysons Corner. I was super excited to attend this event because, as you all may know, I am a huge Nordstrom fan and the Rack is even more amazing, with price reduced from 30-70%.

Now you may be thinking that with prices that good that the merchandise is no-name and out of season, well au contrere mon frere, the Rack carries on-trend items from designers like Kate Spade and Marni.

This particular store, has an great layout, with two floors full of fab merchandise.
My favorite section is Shoes, which takes up about half of the second floor. The great thing out the shoe section in Nordstrom Rack is that they offer a wide variety of larger sized shoes for women and men (Women going up to size 14 and men up to size 20).

If you get a chance to check the store out please do and a great day to stop by would be this Thursday for the opening event  where you can have a chance to win a 90 second $2000 shopping spree (don't get your hopes up 'cause I'll be there to win that hehe) Also they're giving away free Nordstrom Rack tote bags.

Check out the pic below to see the wonderful store and what I wore to the event.

New York Fashion Week Day 1

Hello all, I do apologize for my absence. As you all know I was in New York for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I had an amazing time and got a chance to see a few shows. I will definitely be doing some show reviews so stay tuned for that. In the mean time I wanted to show you all what I wore on the first day of fashion week. Now this outfit took a little elbow grease to put together. The feathered peplum top is actually a dyi. I got a plain peplum top from Zara and added feathers to it. The feathers did take a while to add on but I love the result. Though my outfit was all black, I wanted to make it interesting by adding varying textures. The tikka (head piece) was a great addition and gave the outfit the bit of bling it was missing.
Can't wait to share even more of my Fashion week experience with you. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Thanks for reading.
