Neon Flowers
Dress, Bag and Bangles: H&M/ Shoes: Zara |
I had to use this picture. That older lady is so cute! |
Hey all!! I hope you're enjoying your Monday. Today I come to you with my entry for the Capfabb style challenge! For those of you who don't know, Capfabb, which is an acronym for Capital Area Fashion and Beauty Bloggers, is a blogger organization that has monthly meet-ups and events. It's a great way to meet fellow blogger in the DC area and I have even met some really great friends. Any who, Capfabb has this monthly style challenge, where bloggers can send outfit posts of a particular style or trend proposed by the group. This months style challenge was to wear something neon (read more about it here). I am in love with the neon trend. I love to stand out and what better way to do it then by wearing something bright and beautiful. Here is my entry for the challenge. When I saw this bright beautiful dress hanging in the store, I knew this would be the perfect dress for the challenge. To add to the neon fun, I ended up getting my nail painted a neon green and if the floral dress and nails weren't enough neon for you, I decided to take these picture near the very beautiful and bright arc in Chinatown. So today post is so bright you might need to wear shades lol. Well I hope I haven't damaged your retinas too much, hope to SEE you back here soon!!! (pun intended)

By the Water
Top: via Marshalls/ Skirt: via Marshalls/ Shoes: Zara/ Bag: Vintage via Elan RenegadeVintage |
Good day lovely readers! I'm back with another outfit post. Yay!! As you all know this past Monday was my Birthday and over the weekend my babe and I deciding to spend some QT roaming around DC, since he had to work on my actual birthday. I took these picture before going shopping, in georgetown. As I told you in a previous post, summer is time is about showing skin but considering I not absolutely comfortable with my body, I'm working on it, I try to find creative ways to beat the heat while still looking chic (That rhymed lol). I got to tell you that I LOVE this skirt. It's so flowy and feminine, it makes me feel so whimsical. The mint color is so on trend and the light material makes it suitable for those hot summer days. Don't be surprised if you see it on the blog again.
I have some events I'll be attending later this week so I'll make sure to try (if I'm no too busy yapping) to take a bunch of pictures to share with all. Anyway, I hope you all are having a great week and I'll see you soon!
P.S If you have entered my birthday wish list giveaway, Thank you so much! I'm in the process of choosing the winner and will let them know very very soon. So stay turned...

I did a little shopping on the styleliner. It's been in DC for the pass two months and has now gone back to its home in the Hampton's. This converted food truck is filled with beautiful accessories and clothes. I think on my next trip to NYC, I'll definitely pay the styleliner another visit.

All Wrapped Up
Dress: Thrifted Vintage/ Shoes: Zara/ Bracelets: Charlotte Russe |
Now on to the outfit. When Diane Von Furstenberg created the wrap dress, I don't think she knew what a service to womanity (humanity+ Woman. Get it?) she was doing. A wrap dress looks good on anybody and I mean anybody. No matter your shape or hight there is a wrap dress out there for you. This one, I found while thrifting and it only costed me $4. Yup, you read that right, 4 bucks. I know right? I couldn't believe it either. The colors are so vibrant and summery. They just make me want to dance but I sure you all don't want to see that haha. Any way, today's my birthday so I'm going to do birthday stuff (whatever that means). I hope you all have a great day and if you want some cake just let me know, I have a bunch left that I would eat would like to get rid of.
PS: Today is the last day to enter My birthday wish list list giveaway so do it now here.

Tasty Tuesdays : Trisha's Spinach Artichoke Dip
I actually got this recipe from the food network's show, Down Home with the Neelys, but as with any great recipe you want to customize it and make it your own. For my version of the recipe I added, fresh jalapeno pepper for an extra kick. Everyone love Spinach artichoke dip. It's like the most popular appetizer ever! Naturally, I had to have this as an appetizer at my house warming party. It's really quick and easy to make but it tastes so good.
Ingredients:
Because I was making this for a dinner party I doubled all of the ingredients but you can just make it as is.
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 Jalapeno pepper
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 (10-ounce) box frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained and squeezed dry
- 1 (8-ounce) jar artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chiles (recommended: Rotel)
- 1 cup shredded 4 cheese blend (I used a Mexican blend and it worked really well)
- Tortilla chips
1.Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once it foams, add
the shallot and garlic, and saute until softened, for about 3 minutes.
2. Then, Add the flour and cook while stirring until it becomes a light blonde color.
3. Slowly stir in the heavy cream, and the drained spinach, and simmer until it starts to thicken, about 5 minutes.
Lastly, Stir in the artichoke hearts, tomatoes, jalapenos and cheese and cook until the cheese is melted. Remove to a serving bowl and serve with tortilla chips.

Lady in Red
Dress: Old Navy (old)/ Blazer: Vintage/ Sandals: Marshalls/ Sunnies: Asos/ Cuff: Macy's/ Bag: Aldo ( also worn here ) |
Happy Monday to you all!!I hope you had a restful weekend. I certainly had a good time but I'll share that in another post. So as you can see I have a fab new 'do that I am so loving. Its like the cherry on top to this outfit lol. I love the simplicity of this dress. Jacket or not, I always get compliments when I'm wearing it because there is sort of sophistication in wearing a maxi dress and one that is red just screams "look at me!". Now can we talk about these sunnies? They are super 50's glam. Cat eye sunglasses aren't for the faint of heart but they will increase your glam factor a good 50%. The whole ensemble made me feel very Hollywood starlet-esque. There's no particular segue I want to use right not now so I'll just say have a great week and make sure you check out the giveaway here and enter!
