Central Michel Richard

It's been a while since I've done my last food review( here) and I am so disappointed in myself for that because I have been to some great places since then. I'm definitely going to start doing them again because I love sharing great my culinary experience. Today's review is for the DC restaurant, Central Michel Richard.

So this past weekend, Krystin and I were hanging out doing our blogger girl stuff. There was a lot of posing, picture taking and shopping involved. Well like any true fashionistas, we had to find some where fabulous to eat. Well Krystin, being the fat girl at heart that she is, suggested we go to Central a French/American restaurant, located off of pennsylvania ave in downtown DC.

To starter, we tried frog legs, for the first time mind you, and I have to say if you are going to try frog legs, try them here! These fried nuggets of amazingness were served with a very delicious barbecue sauce and tangy cole slaw. I am usually a very adventurous eater but I was really hesitant about trying frog legs. The "bone" in it just threw me off. I'm happy I tried it though because it was really good.

My main course was the braised short ribs. Give me a moment, I'm wiping the drool from my chin as I look at the picture of this dish. It was so good! You know that amazing feeling you get when food is really good? You do a little dance and smile from ear to ear, that's the feeling I had while eating this dish. The carrots were cooked to perfection and submerged in a sauce that just made you want to lick the fork. The meat was nice and tender and benefited well from that super yummy sauce. I have to give props to my bartender, because she suggested a red wine that just enhanced the flavors of this dish. So if this dish was a 9 out of 10, the wine made it a 13 1/2.

Krystin had the Sea bass with mushroom. She let me try it and I have to say that it was good but it needed some kind of sauce to tie the flavors together. The fish wasn't dry but it just seemed like it was missing something. Maybe a lemon wedge would have done the trick.

For dessert, I had a very elaborate version of a napoleon. Though very very beautiful to look at this dessert wasn't as amazing as I was hoping it was going to be. I believe it needed some kind of fruit component to really enhance the dish.

Krystin's dessert was a Cream brûlée. She told me that she enjoyed it but it was a bit lack luster considering how much she enjoyed the frog legs and Sea bass. I was able to taste the fruit sauce and that was exactly what my dessert was missing! If that mango or raspberry sauce was used in my napoleon, I think that it would have been amazing!!!

Definitely had a good time at Central Michel Richard and throughly enjoyed the frog legs and short ribs , the dessert weren't as amazing as I'd hope but I would love to go back and try some different dishes. If I had to rate this restaurant, from what I experience it would be a 8/10, some great dishes but desserts need a bit of improvement.
Try or Trash? I would recommend you try this restaurant.
