Maroon and blush

It seems as though my prayers were answered this weekend, the weather was at Antarctica for the first time in weeks. I was able to get out and about. Went to the gilt City warehouse sale and grabbed a fabulous brunch with some new friends. Can I tell you how much I'm ready for spring.
Because of the milder temps this weekend, I gave a nod to my old friend spring by rocking this blush and maroon tone outfit. I stock with the color pallet with my vintage fur and new Brian Atwood heels. I felt extra feminine and flirty in this outfit.
Can I say again how much I am looking forward to warm weather on a regular basis?? Well only a few more weeks (le sigh)

NYFW Day 4: Feathers and Leather

This is probably my favorite outfit from fashion week. I love feathers and this fabulous feather stole, that I found in a quant vintage shop in Amsterdam, is beyond amazing. You wouldn't believe that this actually goes around your neck but I decided to put a Trisha twist on it and tie it around my waist to give a sort of peplum allusion.
I am really into leather this fall. Like I can't get enough of it. I love how this dress isn't completely leather because it makes it that much more interesting.
I just want to warn you all now, these shoes are so chic and comfortable and you will see me wear them  a lot this fall. Speaking of fall, its actually officially fall now. I can't believe how quickly this year seems to be going by. Like many others, fall is my favorite season but I am dreading the colder weather to come. Well, I'm sure I have something else to do right now so I going to stop typing and wish you all a great week!!

NYFW: Crop top and mixed prints

During NYFW, it's all about wardrobe changes. I wore this outfit on the second day of fashion week as well but later in the day. This was my dinner outfit. Speaking of dinner, meals during NYFW are usually few and far between and when you do get a chance to eat, you want it to be something really good. Unfortunately, our epicurean luck was bad and we didn't really have too many great meals.

As I type I am currently enjoying a much needed vacation in Puerto Rico. After such a stressful, yet amazing, time at New York Fashion Week you want to be able to relax and recharge yourself and this trip is my attempt at that. I can't wait to share some of the beautiful pictures that I'm taking here. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I would love to hear about your plans, so leave your comments below. You can also follow along with my adventures on instagram @according2trish.

Lace and Denim

As a Realtor by day, I don't really have the typical 9 to 5 Monday through Friday schedule. So on weekends, when I am showing house or having a open houses, I still have to dress somewhat professionally. I choose to add relaxed elements to my outfit as to not look so stuffy, after all it is the weekend. This look is one that I have been dying to try. The femininity of the lace paired with the edge of the denim top is such an great pair to me. Every one knows I love fusion, in both food and style. The denim top was perfect for giving me just enough warmth now that the weather is becoming slightly cooler. I don't want to believe that fall is just around the corner. Though fall is my favorite season, the year just seems to be going by too quickly.

In other news, I am super ecstatic to be going to New York Fashion Week next week. I love going to the shows and just being around all of the beautiful fashion. I don't have all of my outfit completely ready yet but I'm sure I will get them done in time. I can't wait to show you all of the outfits I've curated (here some from last year) . If your going to NYFW let me know, would love to meet up with some of you!

Little White Dress

This past weekend I returned from a great vacation in Barbados. if you've been reading my blog for a while now, you know Im half Bajan (Barbadian) and try to go to carnival there every year. What I didn't realize when I was returning home is that the east coast was experiencing these fall like temperatures. What's better than a LWD (Little White Dress) for summer though? I just added a bright kimono (to keep me warm), gold jewelry and fab shoes and you got a perfect outfit for date night.

Vintage Peplum

Hey everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful mother's day weekend. Happy belated mother's day to  all of the mothers out there. I decided to take my awesome mom to brunch and we had such a great time. I will be posting a restaurant review for that so stay tuned.
So this is what I wore to brunch. This top is so vintage and so sexy and I love it! From the peplum to the low v neck, this top has all the elements to make any girl feel womanly. I paired it with a dark pair of jeans, some awesome cat eye shades and my fab new cut out sandals. All in all, this made for a very nice ensemble, if I say so myself. Have a wonderful week !!!

Everyday People DC

This past sunday I had the honor of attending my first Everyday People's brunch. The brunch was hosted by one of my favorite chef, chef Roble', who I unfortunately missed because he came after I left. The brunch was held at Smith's Commons on H St NE. There was a cool 90's vibe and the food was great. This was my first brunch so I didn't really know what to expect but next time I think I will be wear less clothes lol . Loved my outfit but not for this event.  I cannot wait to attend one of these brunches in NYC.

Black and White and Print all over

Hello beautiful people. I know I have been slacking on my outfit post but I have been going through some body image issues since being sick. Not sure if you can tell but I've lost about 20lb while I was ill and I'm having a hard time adjusting to it. You probably think I'm crazy, any girl would be ecstatic to have lost a bunch of weight but I am not at all too happy at where I lost it. I have no curves and the ones seen in these picture are all an illusion lol. But I'm working out a little more at the gym now so hopefully I can regain my curvaceous figure in a healthier manner. I won't let my issues hinder my progress so expect to see regular outfit post again.

Any who, I've worn this skirt on the blog before, but the black and white combo to me makes it so 2013. The clutch has got to be one of my favorite DIY pieces to date. The fabric reminded me of Louis Vuitton's S/S 2013 collection and I just had to make something cool out of it. The idea to make a triangular clutch came from the 60's trend that's hot right now for spring. I'm so going to make another one but slightly bigger. Hope you all have a fabulous day and if you're in the DMV area stay safe in the snow. See you soon.

Red Sparkle

This past wednesday I had the pleasure of attending the Red Sparkle pop-up beauty lounge event. Red Sparkle is a organization that encourages entrepreneurship in creative careers (like fashion and beauty) amongst young women in the DC metropolitan area. They held this event to celebrate the diversity within the fashion and beauty communities and to raise proceeds towards their worthy cause. The event was held at the beautiful La Petite Marmoset's show room  (my second home in my head) and was filled with fabulous bloggers and beauty lovers. I had an amazing time and even won a pair of crux NYC earrings in a raffle. Here are just a few pictures I was able to take at the event.

3 for 1

First things first, I have to extended my thought and prayers out to the families that were effected by hurricane sandy. I, myself, live on the east coast but planned a vacation to California which so happen to fall the same weekend the hurricane hit so I was so fortunate and am very grateful.

Ok now to the fashion. I have been a bad blogger *slaps self on wrist*. I've haven't been particularly consistent with posts for a couple of weeks because life has been happening. Fortunately, I'm getting things in order so I'll be posting on a much more regular basis. I thought since I've been neglecting my responsibilities I would give you three different outfits in one post.

These first shots were taken about a month ago when the weather was a little warmer. I love this dress. The colors are so appropriate for fall and the silhouette is versatile. Between me and you, I've worn it many a few times and have styled it a few different ways.

Cheetah Print and Blue Silk

This is an outfit I wore to the Worn magazine launch party about a week ago. I want to make sure that I was going to stay warm, as the party was along side a roof top pool and the weather is getting fairly cool at night. Though the temperature is dropping I refuse to wear tights just yet. Love this peplum jacket, I can dress it up, like so, or dress it down with a nice pair of jeans.

Red ruffles (&Giveaway!!!)

This is my last outfit post from NYFW :( . Sad I know. I did wear a few other outfits but didn't get good enough pictures to post them so I'll have to do so at a later date.

I am so in love with this top. First off, I found it Nordstrom rack, where it was on sale for $9.75 but was originally $139. Love great deals like that! The top just exudes a certain opulence. The scarlet color is so on trend for fall and pairing it with the leather skirt was perfect.

Like a boy

Menswear inspired looks are so big this fall, as they have been in the past season. Being of a curvier body type, I was very hesitant to try this trend because I thought I would look too feminine. Well for fashion week I decided to "grow a pair" and try this trend out. The way that I made it work for me is that instead of trying be too masculine, I decided to just take hints of masculinity and incorporate that into my look. This jumper was the perfect piece to help me achieve my goal. Because it was strapless, I kept my very feminine charm but the wide legs and structure gave me the right amount of masculine flare.

Cutouts and Prints

The thing about fashion week that know one tells you, is that it brings out your fierceness like no other. Maybe its all of the models or the lack of food but something switches in your brain and you just become an extreme amplified and fiercer version of yourself. I love this feeling and it really has encouraged me to step out of my fashion comfort zone.

New York Fashion Week Day 1

Hello all, I do apologize for my absence. As you all know I was in New York for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I had an amazing time and got a chance to see a few shows. I will definitely be doing some show reviews so stay tuned for that. In the mean time I wanted to show you all what I wore on the first day of fashion week. Now this outfit took a little elbow grease to put together. The feathered peplum top is actually a dyi. I got a plain peplum top from Zara and added feathers to it. The feathers did take a while to add on but I love the result. Though my outfit was all black, I wanted to make it interesting by adding varying textures. The tikka (head piece) was a great addition and gave the outfit the bit of bling it was missing.
Can't wait to share even more of my Fashion week experience with you. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Thanks for reading.

The Charm Georgetown Soiree

Happy Monday lovies, I am posting to you from the beautiful land of Barbados! I'm here for Cropover, which is our version of carnival and my friends have been keeping me thoroughly busy. I am having the time of my life! I didn't want to neglect my readers so I thought I'd take a little time out of my partying schedule to bring you this event recap. I went to the Charm Georgetown Soiree last Wednesday. It was a celebration of a look book they did with Cheralee of Miss Lyle Style and the duo behind The President Wears Prada. It was a fab event full of champagne, beautiful baubles and fabulous bloggers. If you haven't seen the look book, you have to check it out here, it is so gorgeous! The jewelry at Charm Georgetown is exquisite. There's something for everyone and there are even some great find under $100. If ever in Georgetown please stop by and pick up something nice, I certainly will be doing so for New York fashion week. Check out the photos below.

I LOVE chandeliers and this one is so beautiful

Psychedelic

Dress: Random Boutique in Baltimore/ Shoes: Off Broadway/ Clutch: Asos/ Rings: H&M

Hello my loves! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My weekend was hot! And I mean hot, as in literally. The weather in the DC has been a scorching. To spare myself a heat stroke, I find myself gravitating toward less and less clothing. I wore this little number to the CabFabb meet up this past Thursday. I always look forward to these meet ups. Being in a room full of super fashionable people always makes me excited. I found this dress in a little boutique, in Baltimore, who's name I can't not remember. It was just sitting in the window screaming "buy me, buy me" and I listened (as I do with all other talking articles of clothing). The colors of this dress are just superb. As you can tell from my previous posts, I have been really feeling the bright colors lately and this is dress is no exception. I wanted the dress to stand out, so I wore a neutral shoe, but neutral doesn't mean boring because these leather snake skin peep toe pumps, pack a punch of their own. So I hope those of you in the USA are ready for the day off tomorrow because I sure am. I just wish I had the whole week off. Just wishful think I guess. Have a fab day!
