So a few weeks ago on Oscars Sunday, I was delighted to attend a fabulous event host by Makeda of Glazondiaries.com and Lara of Prettyconnected.com. This event was an intimate gathering for some of DC's most fabulous bloggers, where we were introduced to so many amazing products that celebrities use when they want to look red carpet-ready. Here are a few photos that were taken that night and also  an amazing list of products from our gift bags.

Rebirth

"Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth."

The concept of regrowth and rejuvenation is one that has been swirling around my head for the past few months. 

This past weekend my car was broken into and some douche bag stole my camera (yes the brand new camera I got only one month ago). Initially, I was so upset and flabbergasted by this wondering "why does dumb shit like this keep happening to me?", but then I realized (after sulking for the whole weekend) that there are way worst thing that could happen to me. Last year this time, I had just come out the hospital after spending a month there for a ruptured appendix. Everyday above ground is truly a blessing and I really want to live my life remembering that no matter what happens to me. I will get my car fixed and get another camera but there is no other me and it could have been much worst. 

I don't really know why these things happen and I'm sure all of you have situations that make you wonder "why me?" but you must have rain to see a rainbow and you must go through winter to get to spring. This is only a minor set back (for you and for me). I am ready for my rebirth. 

Speaking of rebirth and spring, we had some amazing spring- like weather this weekend and I just had to take advantage. I wore this great floral print slip dress and lightweight trench to grab some brunch at Shaw's tavern with some of DC's fabulous bloggers. 

I'm really trying to give more meaningful content when I put up my blog post and I hope you all can appreciate it. Let me know what you think.

Happy Monday All!! I thought I'd give you a little outfit post to start the week off right. This is an outfit that I wore last Thursday to the first anniversary party for Kathrine's La Petite Marmoset reconstructed vintage clothing line. It was a great event and I am so happy for Kathrine. I wish her so much success and am so thankful to have met such a wonderfully talented person. Ok enough of the mushy stuff, is anyone else as excited for spring and summer as I am? The weather in the DMV has  been at least 70 degrees lately and I am loving it. With warm weather comes  flowers and as you can see from my photos the cherry blossoms are starting to bloom. I have to admit, the flowers added a very nice touch to this shoot. Speaking of  the shoot, I am in love with that skirt! It's a 100% silk skirt I found while thrifting. Can you believe someone actually wanted to give this away? Well I guess it's their loss and my wonderful gain.

PS: As I told you all before, there will be a lot of wonderful changes coming to the blog soon and I hope you all are ready!!! I am so excited and can't wait for all the changes to be done. Be sure to be on the  lookout within the next week or so.

CapFabb turns 1

Since joining the Capital Area Fashion and Beauty Bloggers, I have met some very amazing people, gone to some fabulous events and learned a lot about blogging and fashion. This amazing organization had its 1st anniversary party last night at Cities, which was an ultra fabulous event sponsored by H.Bloom, a great flower delivery service. DC's most fashionable came out to party, snack on tasty little treats and sip on champagne. As if partying with my fellow capfabb'ers wasn't enough, we also had the opportunity to take picture in an instant photo booth and make our on floral creation courtesy of H.Bloom . Here are a couple of pictures I managed to snap and some picture of what I wore.

New York Fashion Week 2012

I can't even find the words to describe how amazing this past weekend was. I attended my first fashion week in New York city and also went to the bloggers night out event. I was so fortunate to attend 5 shows and presentation, one being the Herve Leger show. I had such great time soaking in all the fashion and the experience was beyond anything I could have imagined. I can't wait till September to go again. I will be posting my looks that I wore a little later but to hold you over till then here are a few picture snapped at the various shows and presentation that I went to, plus some great street fashion.

IFBcon: The International Bloggers Conference

Last week was an amazing world wind of Fashion and blogging. I was so fortunate enough to go to the International Blogger Conference and then later on attend a few show at fashion week. I have to say that I learned a ton of information about blogging and being that I am new to this, the information was priceless. The conference consisted of several panels discussion covering topics from "What are bloggers Worth?" to "How to make you blog irresistible". These panel consisted of some very prominent fashion bloggers and fashion execs, some of my favorites being, Bryan from Bryan Boy and Emily from  Cupcakes and cashmere . Due to all this new found knowledge, there will definitely be some changes to my blog (for the better of course) to help you get a better sense of who I am and what I am about and how exactly that can relate to your everyday lives. I would like to thank the IFB for having such a wonderful event and I would also like to thank my readers. Though you are few, I know that with your loyalty and my commitment to this blog, we can make this journey something amazing!

I am a Gemini!! The characteristics of a Gemini describes me perfectly. I have a split personality. I'm a girly girl yet I love sports. I'm a science nerd and fashion buff.

2) What was your style like back in high school? Give a visual example. *evil grin*
Style?? What style? lol   For my first 3 years of high school I lived in Barbados and at all of the schools there you must wear uniforms so that what I was working with most of the time. When I moved back to the USA for my senior year, I wasn't big on fashion so I wore a lot of Forever 21 and any thing else I thought was cute. I don't have very many pictures of myself in high school but here I am at prom. 

3) Do you like to watch sports? If so, which one?
Yes. I watch football and basketball

4) Besides DC, which other city/town/state/country have you lived in?
I've lived in Baltimore Md., York PA, and  Barbados

5) If you were given the opportunity, which celebrity would you banish from the limelight?
Honestly, I would not banish any one because I'm sure they have had to put in some kind of work to get to the limelight so I can't knock their hustle but someone I would love to see less of is Rihanna. I do think that her song are super catching but I don't think she has very much talent. I also think that she is overly sexy and crude. Being that she is from the country of my mother's side of the family, I don't like how she represents our culture. 

6) Which fashion faux pas do you secretly like?

One fashion faux pas that I love is leggings as pants. A lot of people think that its not cool to wear leggings as pants but they are extremely comfortable and I love 'em.

7) Sunglasses being worn indoors at a club, lounge, etc. What are your thoughts?
No! Never. I hate when people do this. They are called SUNglasses for a reason. They should only be worn where there is sun.

8) Name your favorite TV show guilty pleasure.
Basketball Wives. I try to be pretty much drama free in my own life so this show gives me drama filled outlet.

9) Where is the location of your ultimate dream vacation?
I would love to visit Egypt. When I was little, I wanted to be an Egyptology and I still want to go.

 10) There are a couple types people become when tipsy: flirty, touchy, loud, sleepy (me!), etc. Which type are you?
I get very flirty when tipsy *blushes*

11) What is your greatest asset?

I think my greatest asset is my smile. I have to thank my mom for providing me with braces because without them I don't think I would be the same.

My first CapFabb meet up

 I had the extreme honor to participate in my first Capfabb meetup last night at Madewell in Georgetown. It was a wonderful evening filled with fashion, champagne and cupcakes. I met so many wonderful bloggers (several of whom I stalk on a daily bases lol). I was so preoccupied with hobnobbing with DC's fabulous bloggers, that I had little time to take photos but here are a couple that I was able to snap in between sips of champagne and blabbing.
